We warmly welcome you to UMOJA OF AFRICA, a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to uniting and empowering the African community across the United States. UMOJA OF AFRICA is an organization founded by members of the African community residing in the United States. Its mission is to bring together Africans from across the U.S. to foster unity, mutual support, and cultural solidarity. Whether in times of celebration or hardship, UMOJA OF AFRICA stands as a source of strength and assistance for those in need.
The organization is also dedicated to empowering African youth by educating them about the U.S. legal system, societal norms, and opportunities for personal growth—helping them become responsible, law-abiding, and successful members of society.
In addition, UMOJA OF AFRICA envisions a community equipped for the future. It aims to provide training and education in modern technologies, ensuring that members of the African diaspora can adapt, thrive, and actively participate in today’s fast-evolving digital world—and beyond.

Mission
UMOJA of Africa connects, educates, supports, and empowers African immigrants and refugees as they build stable, dignified lives in the United States. We help individuals and families overcome language, education, employment, housing, transportation, service-access, and cultural barriers. We also stand with families during bereavement, support young adults preparing for legal and values-based marriages, preserve African culture, and strengthen community unity and hope. Through compassionate service and meaningful, lasting opportunity, we transform lives—one person, one immigrant, and one refugee at a time.
Vision
UMOJA of Africa envisions a thriving and united African immigrant and refugee community in the United States, where every individual and family can overcome language, cultural, and socioeconomic barriers to achieve stability, dignity, and success. We envision a welcoming society in which African newcomers have equitable access to education, employment, housing, essential services, transportation, and meaningful opportunities. By preserving culture, strengthening families, and empowering future generations, we seek a community where everyone can build a fulfilling life and contribute confidently to society.
Why UMOJA OF AFRICA Collects Donations
UMOJA OF AFRICA collects donations to support African families in the United States who face life’s most difficult challenges without the means to cope. Many members of our community experience the tragic loss of loved ones, sudden financial crises, or emergencies that leave them with nowhere to turn. In these moments, we step in to offer relief — but we can’t do it alone.
Your donation allows us to:
- Cover funeral and burial expenses for families in need
- Provide emergency aid such as food, rent, and utilities
- Support youth through education, mentorship, and life-skills training
- Offer technology and job-readiness programs for economic empowerment
- Organize cultural events that promote unity and preserve African heritage
